There are three different tiers, but to officially be recognized as a city you must have at least tier one completed

This Information No Longer Applies as of the Map Reset!

Tier 1

Milestone #1: Have a town hall

A town hall should be near the entrance to your city, have the rules for building in your city, and list the citizens that live there. We expect you to have at least two floors for a town hall.

Milestone #2: Build a road to a region post

A road connecting your town to one region posts, that is well lit and marked. If there are forks, or intersections on the road, make sure you mark which direction leads toward your city. This should also help get your population going. This road should be to one of the many region posts that are laid out in a grid pattern across the whole map. (it looks like a pillar of glowstone with a square base of smoothstone brick) You can can connect to the nearest road already leading to one of the posts, but be sure to label that fork in the road.

Milestone #3: Have at least 10 civilians

You need to have 10 people that live in your town other than the mayor. They will all need to have a house of their own (no apartment complexes yet). All the houses should adhere to any of the rules set in your town hall, and their doors should be marked Private.

Tier 2

Milestone #4: Build a subway to a spawn

The subway should be self propelled, and have two lanes. The cart should leave from the right side. Build as close to spawn as you can.

Milestone #5: Build a public farm and market

Build a public farm that houses at least 128 Wheat, at least 32 trees, and 16 melons. You must also build an adjacent market to accommodate your population. You should have room to store your surplus foods and supplies. Players should be able to set up shops here.

Milestone #6: Have at least 15 people

You need to have 10 people that live in your town other than the mayor. They will all need to have a house of their own (no apartment complexes yet). All the houses should adhere to any of the rules set in your town hall, and their doors should be marked Private.

Build a Colosseum (Special Project)

You MUST have Tier 2 completed before you start this project

You need to build a coliseum for your city, which should be fairly sizable (but no bigger than 32x32), and support at least two game types. One game type must be spleefing, the other game type can be any game you choose. You should be able to change the game type without heavy modifications to the arena (e.g., remove the spleefing floor, and put in your other game floor). Your game should be simple. You need to have room for observers. You do not have to build this colliseum within your city limits, but it must be adjacent to your city.

Tier 3

You MUST have Tier 1 and Tier 2 completed before you begin Tier 3

Milestone #7: Build a massive monument

  • Your monument should be your tallest building.
  • Your monument should represent your city.
  • You should use rare materials, or materials that are hard to come by in large quantities.
  • Your monument should be a very large building, at least 16x16 at the base.
  • You do not have to build the monument within your current city limits.

Milestone #8: Build an additional district

Build an expansion district, that is at least 5 chunks large, that has room for new players to move into your city. Plots should be somewhat level. This expansion MUST include a large amount of excavating / leveling / reclaiming land. DO NOT just flatten an area of land and set up roads and plots. Make it look nice. You need to build a themed area. You will need to have supporting buildings, road signs, and areas in your district to let newcomers know how to get to city infrastructure, such as your farm, and town hall. You can claim up to 8 chunks for this project, but must claim at least 5. However many chunks you claim for this project are how many you get for completing it. These chunks must NOT be part of your existing city.

Milestone #9: Build a castle/fortress/mansion
You are to build a massive castle/fort/mansion. This should match your city's theme. Make it massive. At least 32x32. Claim an area outside of your city for this project. Make it luxurious. Use rare materials to decorate. E.g. Gold, Lapis, Diamond. The inside must be finished. Large open rooms. Castles and fortresses need a throne room. Mansions need a lavish master bedroom. (Lost in translation, don't make it bigger than 8 chunks)

Build an Adventure!! (Special Project)

You must complete the rest of Tier three before starting this project Adventure can be set up anywhere near your city, and be somewhat contained. You can use up to 5 chunks to build your adventure. Do not use more than 5 chunks for your adventure. You are expected to use some redstone for your adventure. You need to have a story for your adventure. We will test your adventure once you claim it is done, so make sure it works. Make it DIFFICULT! If it's too easy, we will not accept it!
